MedQuest Quality Assurance

MedQuest Pharmacy is proud of its reputation and long standing commitment to quality of products that we specialty compound.  Our commitment to quality assurance is unsurpassed in the pharmacy field.  Each specialty compound undergoes rigorous checks and balances to ensure that our patients receive the exact product specified by the prescriber.

Raw Ingredient Assurance

MedQuest Pharmacy has a dedicated team of professionals, consisting of our Product Managers and the Vice President of Operations, that validate and audit our raw ingredient suppliers.  Each product that we bring into the pharmacy requires the following documentation prior to release into the compounding facility.

  • Certificate of Analysis – This information is required to ensure the efficacy, tested by HPLC, and the purity of each ingredient.
  • Manufacture Flow Chart – This information is required for review of the manufacturing process.  This will identify the extraction process for herbals.  We also identify the use of any solvents that we deem as harmful due to residue left on the finished ingredient.
  • Certificate of Origin – This identifies the country in which the raw ingredient is manufactured.

These three indicators allow us to choose and ensure that we are providing the best available raw ingredients.  We are also proud of the fact that MedQuest Pharmacy is one of the only pharmacies with strict sourcing requirements of U.S. and European standard material.  Our decision to purchase raw ingredient is not driven by price but quality of product that meets or exceeds our specifications.

Compounding Assurance

The MedQuest Pharmacy compounding center is unsurpassed for Quality Assurance and Controls.  We utilize a compounding software system that individually logs all weights and measurements of raw ingredients during the compounding process.  These logs are then check and assured by a Pharmacist.  The compounding stations are separated from each other to prevent cross contamination.  Our raw ingredients are stored in a separate inventory room to keep them from cross contamination of the actual raw ingredient during a compounding process.  Our hands on training process involves one on one training between a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT.) and a Registered Pharmacist (RPh.).  Each process for our unique delivery forms requires this training.  Once the product is made it is logged as a finished good and labeled with a lot number, expiration date and unique bar code to identify the finished product.  All compounding records are retained in the compounding center.

Fulfillment Assurance

Our commitment to customer service and quality assurance is our focus.  The final part of our unique dispensing process is a three-check system.  Each order is accompanied by a quality assurance sheet, and prescription label.

  • Check Point 1.  When a product is pulled from finished inventory a prescription label is applied and the product is placed with its corresponding quality assurance sheet.  At the first check station a Technician scans all three bar codes found on the compounding or product label, the prescription label, and the quality assurance sheet.  If the scans match for all products in the order a FedEx shipping label is printed and placed with the order.  If all three scans do not match the product is rejected and cannot pass the check point.
  • Check Point 2.  Upon passing check point 1, the labeled products and quality assurance sheet are sent to check point 2.  At this second check station a Pharmacist then rescans the compounding or product label, the prescription label, and the quality assurance sheet.  The Pharmacist also checks each product with the prescription on file for the patient.  If all three scans and the prescription on file do not match the product is rejected and cannot pass the check point.
  • Check Point 3. Upon passing check point 1 and 2, the labeled products and quality assurance sheet are sent to check point 3.  At this third and final check station a shipping clerk scans the quality assurance sheet and the FedEx shipping label.  If the two scans do not match the order is rejected.  If the scan clears the product is then placed into the appropriate shipping package, labeled and sent out for delivery.

These systems are put into place to ensure the products dispensed by MedQuest Pharmacy are of high quality and that they conform to the prescription given by the physician.  Our current record of high quality assurance and customer care has earned us an error rating of less than 0.11% percent on all products dispensed.

We are proud of our commitments to each of our physicians and patients.  Thank you for trusting in MedQuest Pharmacy to be your specialty compounding pharmacy.
